About EMM

Built on ship service, grown into a full marine company

Executive Marine Management was founded in Freeport in 2009 with one goal: to raise the bar for ship services and offshore marine work in the Bahamas and the Caribbean.

Ship services have always been our core business. Our captains, divers, engineers and staff share the goal of making EMM an internationally recognised company, with excellent vessels and equipment and a commitment to safety and reliability.

We put the customer first and build long relationships, with 24-hour access to EMM management to solve problems as they happen. Our motto says it: on time, all the time.

Lightering

Ship-to-ship transfer in Bahamian waters

Lightering, or ship-to-ship transfer (STS), moves cargo, usually petroleum, from a very large crude carrier to smaller tankers that can reach ports the large ships cannot.

EMM is licensed by the Government of the Bahamas to conduct lightering in Bahamian waters. We are the only fully turnkey lightering company in the Bahamas: we arrange the government approvals and provide logistical support from our own fleet. We work with SPT, a leader in the lightering industry, whose trained mooring masters run every operation safely and in full compliance with international regulations.

Our lightering support vessel Typhoon, backed by the rest of the EMM fleet, is ready when our customers need us most.

Commercial diving

The only Bahamian hard-hat commercial dive team

Every Executive Marine diver holds ADC and/or IMCA certification. The team has years of international experience, and our focus on safety and logistics means we can take on almost any subsea task.

With our dive support vessel DSV Cat 5 we can be on location anywhere in the Bahamas and the Caribbean within days of a request. Our divers stabilised the nine new subsea pipelines laid by Cal Dive International for the Bahamas Oil Refining Company (BORCO) and completed the remaining subsea work for its new oil terminal.

We also run the only hyperbaric chamber based in the Northern Bahamas.

  • In-water class surveys and inspections
  • Wet welding and subsea cutting

Hull cleaning & prop polishing

The most effective way to save fuel and protect the environment

Hull cleaning

Shipping burns an estimated 350 million tons of heavy fuel oil a year, and the CO₂ it emits exceeds a billion tons. Regular cleaning of the hull and rudders, together with propeller polishing, can cut fuel costs by close to 10% in everyday service, and by more than 20% on a badly fouled hull.

Underwater work demands the best equipment and qualified divers ready to work in any conditions. EMM has been diving commercially since 2010, specialising in hull cleaning, propeller polishing, wet welding, NDT inspections, propulsion maintenance and repair.

Propeller polishing

A rough propeller costs more energy per square metre than a rough hull. That makes propeller maintenance the most cost-effective upkeep a ship owner can do, with fuel savings of up to 6%. On twin-propeller, twin-rudder vessels we keep both propellers and rudders to the same standard as the hull.

In-water survey approvals

EMM is an approved service supplier for in-water surveys by diver. Open a certificate to view the PDF.

Marine contracting

A leader in marine contracting on Grand Bahama

EMM has worked closely with BORCO and Statoil, the two large oil storage terminals on Grand Bahama, and has served the Grand Bahama Shipyard, Freeport Harbour, Cal Dive International and Jan De Nul.

Recent work includes the Grand Bahama Shipyard dry dock installation, the rebuild of Walker’s Cay Marina and the Celebration Key project on Grand Bahama. With close ties to world leaders in the field, we can take on almost any marine task.
